About The Position

St. Mary School is seeking a part-time Extended School Services Supervisor and Instructional Aide. This position involves assisting teachers and students in the classroom during the school day and supervising the Extended School Services (ESS) program after school. ESS is an after-school care program for students in Kindergarten through 8th grade, offering playtime, planned activities, homework time, and snack time. The ESS supervisor is responsible for running the program independently and is often the last staff member in the building. The role also includes duties as an Instructional Aide, such as preparing materials, instructing small groups, maintaining a clean classroom, enforcing rules, and supervising students in various locations.

  • Experience working with a wide age range of students in a variety of educational situations.
  • Strong background working independently with students from a variety of age groups.

  • Ability to collaborate with partner teachers, other staff members, and parents.

  • Willingness to continue professional development.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to complete the Seattle Archdiocese’s Safe Environment Training.
  • Clear a Washington State Background Check.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the Extended School Services (ESS) program and its enrolled students.
  • Run the ESS program independently.
  • Assist and work collaboratively with classroom teachers.
  • Prepare materials, projects, and assignments.
  • Instruct small groups of students.
  • Help maintain a clean and orderly classroom environment.
  • Assist the teacher in enforcing classroom rules and daily routines.
  • Supervise students in various locations, including the playground and lunchroom.
  • Work with students who have a diverse set of needs and learning styles.
  • Create a warm, well-managed, organized, and supportive Extended School Services environment.
  • Engage all students as learners.
  • Provide compassionate and structured caregiving.
  • Add value to the school community using gifts and talents outside the classroom.
