About The Position

The Expressive Therapist is responsible for clinical services provided to children, adolescents and/or adults, as assigned. The clinician is held accountable for all related clinical, administrative, and Quality and Compliance responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of a master’s degree in art therapy, dance movement therapy, Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or another human service-related field.
  • Three professional references that reflect ability to perform clinical work
  • 1 Year of post master’s degree Mental Health experience required
  • Demonstrated awareness of multiple cultures and cultural impact on the delivery of service is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Provides Therapy, Counseling and Crisis Intervention to Clients and their Families
  • Creates IMCANS (IATP) Assessment
  • Case management
  • Program planning and development and other administrative work
  • Client centered consultation with community providers
  • Attendance and participation at clinical presentations
  • Use of supervision or consultation when required or needed
  • All Progress Notes will be entered into the medical record as soon as possible but in no more than three business days of the date of service
  • Compliance with all Policy and Procedures
  • Maintain productivity goals as determined by supervisor
  • Keep weekly schedule current
  • Be responsive to the business office regarding client fees/payments
  • Complete requests time off in a timely through the Program Director
  • Represent the agency with integrity
  • Assess client needs, using drawing, music, painting, sculpting, theater, movement, or other expressive processes-based interventions.
  • Conduct creative or expressive therapy sessions providing guided self-expression experiences to help participants feel an increased sense of wellbeing, connection, improved self-esteem, and empathy for others.
  • Establish therapeutic goals or objectives for creative or expressive therapy sessions in consultation with the Clinical Supervisor or Director.
  • Request purchase or gather materials for in-studio for sessions.
  • If skilled, conduct workshops on techniques of using art in therapeutic relationships in Teaching Artists, interns, volunteers and staff or partner organizations.
