Expressive Arts Therapist
About The Position
The Expressive Arts Therapist is responsible for delivering therapeutic recreation programs that support the emotional, cognitive, and physical well-being of patients through provision of art, music, or recreational therapy services to students in a school setting. The Expressive Arts Therapist works as a classroom teacher and member of a multidisciplinary team in planning, implementing and evaluating individualized service plans. In collaboration with Curriculum and Instructional Coach, Educational Coordinator and classroom staff to create curriculum and lesson plans that support the IEP goal progress.
Requirements
- Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) or Professional Educator License (PEL) or Music Teacher
- Strong knowledge of best practices when working with students with Autism.
Nice To Haves
- 2+ years of experience in specialized modalities (such as music therapy, art therapy or adventure therapy) preferred.
Responsibilities
- Effectively manage a caseload of students.
- Create a curriculum for multiple grade levels.
- Differentiate curriculum to meet students individual IEP goals.
- Design and implement lesson plans.
- Respond to student behaviors.
