About The Position
This is an expression of interest for internships and new grad opportunities at Welty Energy, an affiliate of Welty. Welty Energy is a professional services company specializing in program and project management, transmission line engineering, substation engineering, and construction oversight for transmission, substation, and distribution projects. They manage approximately $500 million in construction projects for electric utilities nationally, with a focus on the Midwest and Northeast regions. The company is headquartered in Akron, OH. This role offers the chance to work on various projects within Electric Distribution, Substation, and Transmission upgrades, support project managers, attend meetings, and contribute to the project lifecycle. Internships are based in Akron, OH with expected travel, while New Grad (Project Coordinator) positions may offer remote flexibility in select states.
Requirements
- Enrolled in a bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or relevant technical field
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Effective organizational skills
Nice To Haves
- Prior Project Coordination, Engineering or Construction Management experience is a bonus
Responsibilities
- Support assigned projects and/or teams from the estimating phase through project completion
- Visit Substations and Transmission Line construction projects
- Support project team with safety moments and capture meeting minutes
- Learn and assist on project proposals
- Update Project one pages and project tracker
- Learn how to identify substation and transmission equipment
- Participate in Project Deep Dive meetings
- Learn Project schedules in Primavera P6
- Help to identifying clearance points on switching requests
- Sit in on financial meetings
- Work with a buddy and coach
- Participate in lunch and learns
- Routinely accompany managers to project meetings, take notes and provide additional support to the life cycle of the project
