Export Control Specialist

About The Position

This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance (ITAR/EAR) with all import and export regulations, including managing the appropriate licences and documentation required for international shipments. You will oversee the administration and control of global trade activities, review contracts for required clauses, and identify any gaps or risks, whilst works closely with internal teams, external customers, freight forwarders and customs authorities.

Requirements

• Extensive working knowledge of ITAR, EAR and US export control frameworks
• 2-3 years experience in a similar role
• Proven ability to manage complex compliance documentation
• Highly detail‑oriented, structured and disciplined
• Strong communication skills — able to challenge constructively
• Ability to work cross‑functionally with Commercial, Ops and Sales

Nice To Haves

• Experience in defence, aerospace, dual‑use goods, or regulated technology is desirable

Responsibilities

• Ensure full compliance with US export regulations (ITAR/EAR)
• Own all export control classifications, documentation and approvals
• Maintain accurate, audit‑ready records for all controlled shipments
• Provide early‑stage export control guidance to Sales and Commercial
• Support deal shaping by advising on export‑related risks and constraints
• Work closely with Ops to ensure shipments meet regulatory requirements
• Conduct export control risk assessments for new opportunities
• Liaise with government agencies and external compliance bodies as required
• Develop and maintain internal export control policies and processes
• Train internal teams on export control requirements and best practice
