An affiliate of the Airbus Group of Companies, STELIA is an aerospace and defense company specializing in the design, development, and manufacturing of composite components and assemblies. Headquartered in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, and with a site in Mirabel, Quebec, we operate in more than 150,000 sq feet of facilities dedicated to operations, manufacturing and administration. The Export Control Officer is in charge of implementing the end-to-end export control process along the whole product life cycle, including classification of products/documents, clearance for export, licensing management, checks on exports and imports and support to other departments in order to ensure compliance with national and international export controls regulations (including Canadian CGP, US ITAR and EAR and any other applicable one) and Airbus Group export control requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Law, International Trade, Business Administration, or a related technical field.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in Export Control or Trade Compliance preferably within the industrial, defense, aerospace, or high-tech sectors.
  • Proven Knowledge of US Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Canadian regulations (CGP).
  • Solid understanding of international sanctions regimes (US, Canada, EU, UN).
  • Fluent professional working proficiency in both French and English (written and verbal) is essential.
  • Familiarity with relevant Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems

Responsibilities

  • Implement the company's export control policy and procedures to ensure STENA compliance with export control regulations and Airbus group rules.
  • Act as the architect of the local compliance infrastructure, ensuring that every physical shipment, digital transfer, and employee hire is protected by a documented and repeatable control.
  • Act as a first point of contact for STENA on Export Control topics and liaise with Airbus Atlantic Export Control team when necessary.
  • Provide support internally regarding the classification of products, documentation and technology according to export control regulations.
  • Clearance for import and export according to national and international export control legislations including sanctions & embargoes.
  • Conduct security assessments / authorization of the access to controlled goods to ensure compliance to the Canadian Controlled Goods Regulations.
  • Management of licensing including the application for licenses, monitoring, ensuring compliance with any specific license provisions and in charge of associated reporting.
  • Carry out assessments in the different areas of the organization to detect possible non-compliances with the export control policy and escalate to Airbus Atlantic Export control team any risk of export control compliance breach.
  • Act as the point of contact with Canadian Export control authorities.
  • Facilitate training sessions for employees in relation to export control matters.
  • Promote a culture of integrity and compliance within the organization.
