Export Compliance Specialist
About The Position
Sandvik Mining & Rock, a leading global supplier of equipment and tools, service, and technical solutions for the mining industry, is seeking an Export Compliance Specialist for its Romeoville, IL facility. This role, also referred to as Technical Data and Customs Compliance Specialist, is crucial for ensuring regulatory compliance in the company's foreign trade operations. The specialist will focus on the correct application of international regulations, including certifications required by other government agencies. Responsibilities include monitoring and evaluating regulatory changes affecting the mining and construction sectors, and coordinating import and export processes via land, air, and sea to ensure logistical efficiency and legal compliance.
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in similar positions within the logistics or foreign trade area.
- Specific experience in NOM certification processes and regulatory oversight.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise by measuring parts and interpreting technical data sheets for accuracy.
- Coordinate product certification processes in accordance with Mexican Official Standards (NOMs) and any other government agency.
- Manage the technical and legal documentation required for certification.
- Stay up-to-date on new legal provisions, tariff and non-tariff reforms, and regulations affecting the mining and construction sectors.
- Analyze the impact of regulatory changes on the company's commercial operations.
- Ensure compliance with land, air, and sea imports and exports, including customs regulations, international treaties, restrictions, and permits.
- Verify tariff classification, origin of goods, and non-tariff regulations (NRT).
- Coordinate with customs brokers, transporters, suppliers, and government agencies.
- Attend and follow up on audits (internal/external), requirements, or inspections by customs authorities.
