About The Position

Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) is seeking an Explosives Handler to join their team at the U.S. Army Dugway Proving Ground (DPG) in Utah. SA-TECH is a Department of Defense (DoD) contractor specializing in various range operations, weapons testing, and technical support services. The Explosives Handler will support the West Desert Test Center (WDTC), a Major Range Test Facility Base (MRTFB) for chemical and biological defense. This role involves supporting chemical and biological (CB) and non-CB testing efforts, including environmental assessments, weapons demilitarization, explosive testing, and hazard assessments.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the use and handling of explosives.
  • Ability to calculate the type and quantities of explosives required to accomplish a specific mission.
  • Experience in working with powder and propellants.
  • Experience operating scales, measuring devices, ring gauges.
  • Experience with center-of-gravity, moment-of-inertia and other equipment commonly used with explosives.
  • Ability to handle, disassemble, and assemble ammunition and components.
  • Ability to read and interpret ammunition drawings.
  • Committed to maintaining a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Current Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must have a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to hire date and maintain this clearance throughout employment.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical, as well as periodic retests.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver’s Record, and a Criminal Background Investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Graduated successfully from the U.S. Military Explosive Ordnance (EOD) school and possess the necessary knowledge and practical experience to safely support EOD- related testing, training, and operations.
  • Completion of formal training on the types and characteristics of explosives and their use in demolition and for special uses.

Responsibilities

  • Use explosives for demolition and for special uses.
  • Research and review technical data for weapons systems under test.
  • Calculate the type and quantities of explosives required to accomplish a specific mission.
  • Work with powder and propellants.
  • Operate scales, measuring devices and ring gauges.
  • Use center-of-gravity, moment-of-inertia, and other equipment commonly used with explosives.
  • Handle, disassemble, and assemble ammunition and components.
  • Read and interpret ammunition drawings.
  • Properly store, transport, and account for explosives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
