About The Position

Systems Application & Technologies, Inc. (SA-TECH) is seeking an Explosives Handler to join their team at the U.S. Army Dugway Proving Ground (DPG) in Utah. This role supports the West Desert Test Center (WDTC), a major DoD Test Facility, and involves handling explosives for demolition and special uses, researching technical data for weapons systems, calculating explosive quantities, and working with powders and propellants. The position requires operating specialized equipment, handling ammunition, and ensuring proper storage, transport, and accounting of explosives.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of formal training on the types and characteristics of explosives and their use in demolition and for special uses.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the use and handling of explosives.
  • Ability to calculate the type and quantities of explosives required to accomplish a specific mission.
  • Experience in working with powder and propellants.
  • Experience operating scales, measuring devices, ring gauges.
  • Experience with center-of-gravity, moment-of-inertia and other equipment commonly used with explosives.
  • Ability to handle, disassemble, and assemble ammunition and components.
  • Ability to read and interpret ammunition drawings.
  • Committed to maintaining a positive, collaborative work environment.
  • Current Driver’s License required; must be able to be insured through company’s vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must have a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance prior to hire date and maintain this clearance throughout employment.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical, as well as periodic retests.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver’s Record, and a Criminal Background Investigation.

Nice To Haves

  • Ideal candidates will have graduated successfully from the U.S. Military Explosive Ordnance (EOD) school and possess the necessary knowledge and practical experience to safely support EOD- related testing, training, and operations
  • Position requires WDTC Certification and if so, certification training will be provided by WDTC government personnel when assigned or hired into this specialized position.

Responsibilities
