About The Position

The Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) is seeking certified Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Technicians to join their team. This role is for a sworn police employee, certified by Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.), with specialized EOD training. The EOD Tech will perform duties under general instruction, following established policies and procedures to support GWCCA's mission. This position reports to the Police Major.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Georgia P.O.S.T. certified officer in good standing
  • Two years’ employment experience as a certified sworn police officer
  • Valid Georgia Driver’s License.
  • Police EOD Technician certification in good standing
  • PBLE/PRPP Certification
  • P.O.S.T DATA REPORT/FACT SHEET from the GEORGIA P.O.S.T WEBSITE AND PBLE/PRPP CERTIFICATION MUST BE UPLOADED AND SUBMITTED WITH APPLICATION
  • Ability to work an irregular work schedule as required to perform duties and responsibilities.
  • Ability to attend and successfully complete extended-length training to certify as certified EOD technician.

Responsibilities

  • Operates as a certified Explosive Ordnance Disposal Tech to provide explosives detection, remediation and specialized EOD response to GWCCA deliveries, vehicles entering upon or adjacent to GWCCA property, and sites of special events on GWCCA property or concerns.
  • Operates EOD equipment when responding to special requests for explosive response based on unusual or suspicious circumstances.
  • Responds to incidents at GWCCA, Mercedes Benz Stadium or other facility as directed by the Police Major, Chief of Police or designated official.
  • Responsible for all maintenance, care, handling and training of assigned equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Safely use and qualify with firearms, chemical agents, and other weapons.
  • Operate a motor vehicle under normal and emergency conditions.
  • Understand and carry out oral and written directions.
  • Write clear, comprehensive, and accurate reports, legibly and with correct grammar and spelling.
  • Understand, interpret, and apply criminal laws, regulations, policies and procedures with a focus on the laws of arrest, use of force, custody, search and seizure, and juvenile laws.
  • Demonstrates the ability to implement police methods and procedures.
  • Works with assigned team to maintain overall GWCCA security and to protect staff, visitors and facilities.
  • Provides emergency services and explosive detection capability.
  • Maintain proficiency in use of personal computer (PC) and related software and be proficient in record-keeping.
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and technological developments in the EOD and Law Enforcement field.
  • Maintains proficiency and certification in explosive detection and remediation in accordance with applicable laws and GWCCA policy.
