About The Position

As an Explorer at Thanksgiving Point, you will play an important role in creating a world-class experience for our guests! You’ll welcome, guide, and engage guests of all ages as they discover what life was like 65 million years ago. In this role, you’ll gain valuable experience and essential skills in customer service, retail, guest management, science education, event management, venue programming, and facilitating engaging learning experiences. You’ll help kids and families build confidence in science and STEM while learning innovative ways to spark curiosity and inspire discovery. Come be part of our incredible team!

Requirements

Strong communication and customer service skills, with a collaborative approach to the workplace and an ability to give and receive constructive feedback.
Ability to work patiently and effectively in a high-activity, high-energy, and sometimes noisy environment.
Willingness and ability to quickly learn cash register operations, money-handling procedures, and guest facilitation best practices.
Comfort initiating conversations with unfamiliar people and enforcing safety procedures with kindness, energy, and acceptance.
Physical demands may include lifting up to 25 lbs., climbing stairs, bending, standing for extended periods, and manipulating small objects.
Comfort working around and with animals, outdoors, insects, and large crowds.
Valid Utah Driver’s License preferred.
Must successfully pass a background check.
Must be at least 16 years old.

Responsibilities

Interact with and engage visitors of all ages to ignite curiosity, encourage exploration, and inspire transformative family learning.
Provide exceptional guest service by monitoring, assisting, and engaging with guests while helping maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
Operate cash registers at the front desk and gift shop, including handling transactions and money responsibly.
Facilitate inquiry-based learning experiences that encourage questions, discovery, and critical thinking.
Collaborate with coworkers to create engaging and memorable guest experiences.
Help maintain a safe, clean, organized, and welcoming environment for guests and team members.
Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of Thanksgiving Point venues, exhibits, activities, and programs and communicate information effectively to guests.
Model curiosity and create positive, meaningful experiences where questions, multiple perspectives, and ideas are welcomed and explored.
Assist with evaluating visitor experiences using appropriate tools and methodologies.
Help guests explore one of the world’s largest displays of mounted dinosaurs and discover the science and stories behind them.
Accept and include all guests as they are, welcoming each person with kindness, respect, and without expectation or judgment.
Follow all applicable rules, procedures, and safety regulations to help ensure the safety of guests and team members.
Exemplify Thanksgiving Point’s mission, values, and policies through daily interactions and responsibilities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the manager or supervisor.
