The Expert Field Service Technician – Industrial Electrical, is responsible for initiating and executing field service activities at customer sites, primarily at a large Water Treatment Plant in Fort Saskatchewan, in a safe and efficient manner. This role supports advanced and complex systems; proactively troubleshoots issues; and works with mechanical and electrical equipment, including motor controls, actuators, PLCs, VFDs, and instrumentation loops. The technician performs preventative maintenance, manages parts inventory, and identifies and corrects safety issues on both Company‑owned and Customer‑owned equipment. This position requires direct interaction with customers and may include responsibilities across multiple systems, locations, or customers as assigned by the direct supervisor.

  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • 3 to 7 years of technical work experience, with 3+ years of experience in electrical, instrumentation, or industrial maintenance roles.
  • Ability to perform field installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of instrumentation and control systems
  • Comfortable working in industrial environments and following lockout/tagout and electrical safety standards
  • Proficient in reading electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs
  • Strong knowledge of motor controls, PLCs, VFDs, and electrical schematics is an advantage.
  • Electrical, mechanical, diesel, fusion experience depending on business unit
  • Work without direct supervision and provides coaching/training to junior-level technicians
  • Technically sound
  • Experience with Microsoft Office including smart devices
  • Must have customer service experience
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and troubleshooting ability
  • Synthesizes technical information and communicates it clearly
  • Derives insight from customer experience to produce outcomes and solve problems often in novel and unexpected ways

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical Tech Cert, Degree or industry specific license(s)
  • Strong knowledge of motor controls, PLCs, VFDs, and electrical schematics is an advantage.
