About The Position

The clinic is seeking an experienced veterinary assistant or technician to join its team. Certified Veterinary Assistants (CVAs) and Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs) with limited experience are welcome; the team can help candidates improve existing skills and learn new ones. The position requires a friendly, compassionate team member who can communicate effectively with clients and veterinarians and perform a range of patient-care, laboratory, and clinical support tasks. Requirements

• Experience as a veterinary assistant or technician.
• Friendly and compassionate demeanor.
• Ability to talk with clients and have important conversations.
• Ability to communicate effectively with a DVM.
• Typing skills for entering medical records in PIMS.
• Phlebotomy, catheter placement, dental prophylaxis, anesthesia administration and monitoring, cleaning, laboratory testing, restraint, nail trims, anal gland expression, and radiographic experience are identified as essential skills; some upper-level skills may be taught or enhanced.

Nice To Haves

• CVA certification.
• RVT certification.

Responsibilities

• Talk with clients and have important conversations with them.
• Gather patient histories.
• Communicate effectively with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM).
• Enter medical records in PIMS.
• Perform phlebotomy and catheter placement.
• Provide dental prophylaxis.
• Administer and monitor anesthesia.
• Clean.
• Run urinalysis, fecal, CBC, and chemistry tests.
• Restrain patients.
• Perform nail trims and anal gland expression.
• Perform radiographic work.
