About The Position

Oklahoma Children’s Hospital Operating Room has 11 OR rooms and 2 procedural rooms. We conduct an array of surgeries, including Urology, Cardiac, General, ENT, OMFS, Dental, Plastics, Neurology, Orthopedics, Robotics, and Gastorenterology. On average, we perform 700 cases a month. We stagger our teams throughout the day and are open 24/7 with a call teams after 1900. We have an inhouse team (nurse and ST) every weekend Saturday and Sunday. Our in unit nurse educator organizes and develops pediatric operating room education designed to prepare, grow, and expand your skills and knowledge with the longest orientation in the hospital. The educator is responsible for helping review policies and oversees our new hires throughout their orientation. Under general supervision, performs professional work in all phases of a comprehensive staff development and training program for an assigned unit. Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
3 years of experience in patient care as a Registered Nurse.
Current Registered Nurse License (RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing, or a current multistate compact Registered Nurse (eNLC)).
Basic Life Support (American Heart Association) certification required upon hire.
Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services and apply nursing techniques.
Ability to maintain civility and good working relationships with other employees.
Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
Skilled in computer applications designed to ensure quality and safety measures for patients.
Ability to establish and maintain integrity and trust with patients by advocating in the patient’s best interest.
Ability to engage and manage conflicts and disagreements in a constructive manner.
Ability to maintain compliance accreditation with local, state, and federal regulatory standards.

Strong written and oral communication skills characterized by candor, openness, integrity, and ability to be diplomatic.
Must have good presentation and communication and written skills.

Responsibilities

Responsible for planning, implementing, evaluating and documenting staff development and in service.
Develops criteria to evaluate needs of the staff and measure the effectiveness of training programs.
Coordinates and facilitates competency development, verification and maintenance activities.
Responsible for coordinating nursing orientation program.
Coordinates and facilitates quality improvement activities and assessing the implementation of age and culturally appropriate care programs.
Plans, implements and evaluates Preceptor Program.
Coordinates CPR training that meets the American Heart association requirements and is in compliance with TJC standards.
Performs other duties as assigned.
