About The Position

The Stern Area System (SAS) and TSMS team has experienced significant growth and is seeking an experienced engineer. This unique engineering organization, D440, has a broad range of responsibilities. Specific projects for this role include supporting shipboard construction and integration, developing and preparing test procedures, and providing troubleshooting support to the fleet once systems are in use. In this construction support capacity, engineers will collaborate with various engineering disciplines, Electric Boat management, Electric Boat Program Offices, Navy Laboratories, SUPSHIP, NAVSEA, Ships Force, and ISEA.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Civil, Marine, Structural Engineering, Engineering Technologies, Electronics, or Computer Science
  • 5+ years of post graduate professional engineering experience
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense secret clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge in or ability to learn how read and interpret engineering drawings, electrical diagrams construction drawings, equipment drawings, and vendor equipment manuals and be familiar with shipbuilding specifications, technical manuals and other source documentation
  • Interest in learning about or had experience with electromechanical systems
  • Experience in developing test procedures
  • Experience in integration and test of complex systems
  • Experience in ship construction
  • Experience in system level testing and troubleshooting
