About The Position

Safelite is hiring experienced auto glass technicians at the Technician, Senior Technician, or Master Technician level. Placement is based on experience, qualifications, technical capabilities, and certifications. Senior and Master Technicians may take on coaching, mentoring, and technical leadership responsibilities. The role provides vehicle glass repair, replacement, and recalibration services at a Safelite Shop or Mobile Glass Shop, with emphasis on safety, quality, efficiency, and customer service.

Requirements

• Technician: typically 1 or more years of vehicle glass installation, repair, replacement, recalibration, or closely related automotive service experience.
• Senior Technician: typically 3 or more years of vehicle glass experience, demonstrated technical proficiency and quality performance, and ability to work independently.
• Master Technician: typically 5 or more years of vehicle glass experience, advanced technical expertise, and demonstrated mentoring, coaching, or training capability.
• High school diploma or GED/equivalent is listed as preferred.
• Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds; stand for extended periods; work in tight spaces; and bend and twist.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle in accordance with applicable laws and agree to monitoring through in-cab vehicle safety camera/video surveillance technology.
• Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varied weather conditions and extreme temperatures, and to work with applicable chemicals, including flammable chemicals.
• Ability to work scheduled days with flexibility in start and end times to meet customer needs.
• Proficiency with computerized diagnostic tools for recalibrations and troubleshooting.
• Problem-solving and troubleshooting ability, independently and collaboratively.
• Ability to read, write, and interpret English and technical directions, and communicate orally by phone and in writing through a computer or other electronic means.
• Ability to maintain a professional appearance and comply with company uniform and PPE policies.
• Ability to maintain stable performance under professional or personal pressure, including time pressure and productivity measures.
• Professionalism and commitment to outstanding customer service and exceeding customer expectations.

Responsibilities

• Provide vehicle glass repair and replacement services at a Safelite Shop or Mobile Glass Shop, with a focus on safety, quality, efficiency, and exceptional customer service.
• Clean customer vehicles after each job.
• Recalibrate automotive safety systems, troubleshoot issues, and complete diagnostic testing.
• Operate Safelite tools and technologies, including True Seal®, Ezi-Wire™, Glass Table System (GTS), applicable chemicals, work order and customer administration systems, and Mobile Resource Management (MRM) technology.
• Safely operate company and customer vehicles throughout the workday.
• Communicate with scheduled customers in person, by text, and by phone; present, promote, and sell Safelite promotional items and services.
• At the Senior and Master Technician levels, serve as a technical resource, support technician development, share best practices, and assist with coaching and mentoring.
• Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all policies and standards.
