Experienced Assurance Associate
About The Position
As an Assurance Associate at Baker Tilly, you will be a member of engagement teams delivering audit and other assurance and consulting services to privately held and publicly traded companies. The role involves working directly with clients to gather information, perform audit testing, identify internal control deficiencies, and discuss recommendations for improvement. You will receive on-the-job coaching and mentoring and participate in firmwide learning and development programs, while building client-service and technical accounting skills and professional relationships. The position offers career development opportunities and flexibility in how and where work is completed; discuss work-location requirements with a Baker Tilly talent acquisition professional.
Requirements
- A four-year degree and eligibility for licensure.
- One year of experience.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in accounting or a related business degree, with sufficient coursework and credits to sit for the CPA exam in the applicable state.
- Outstanding academic performance; a GPA of 3.0 or above is preferred.
- Relevant internship, work experience, and/or involvement with a professional organization.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with all levels of client personnel.
- Skills in time management, communication, interpersonal relations, relationship building, collaboration, and problem solving.
- Organizational and analytical skills, initiative, and adaptability.
- Proficiency with Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Responsibilities
- Engage with clients throughout the year to gather information needed to complete testing and respond to questions.
- Perform substantive testing on clients’ balance sheets and income statements.
- Test for internal control deficiencies and discuss recommendations for improvement.
- Participate as a member of engagement teams providing assurance and consulting services.
- Develop skills through on-the-job coaching, mentoring, and firmwide learning and development programs.
- Network and build relationships internally and externally with clients.
