The role of Expense Analyst supports the SLC Investment Expense Management Team in gaining insights on the drivers of expenses and ensuring the accuracy/completeness of expenses in the General Ledger. Requirements

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel, and related formulas
• Attention to detail at multiple layers in expense management framework
• Highly developed organizational skills to facilitate prioritization amongst competing priorities
• Effective analytical skills with ability to identify key messages and trends essential
• Strong ability to be flexible and supportive of new approaches, changing priorities and timelines
• Ability to identify areas to improve processes and make efficiencies across wide array of tasks

Nice To Haves

• 3+ years of Insurance and/or Financial Services industry preferred
• CPA designation, or working towards a designation desirable
• Knowledge of Hyperion and SAP General Ledger an asset
• Understanding of investments and differing asset classes would be beneficial
• Experience with using AI tools such as co-pilot an asset

Responsibilities

• Manage month end processes, including journal entries, analysis and reconciliations
• Conduct in depth analysis of expenses and related variances to support management decision making
• Develop and improve processes to support efficient reporting and month end processes
• Prepare monthly/quarterly management reporting packages to communicate expense results
• Analysis of Investment related fees to ensure completeness, accuracy and reasonability
• Quarterly Account Reconciliation process, prepare and analysis to support quarterly sign off
• Assist on projects as directed, including automation of recurring tasks
• Support billing processes through purchase order set up, billing and accompanying journal entries
• Complete regulatory filings as required
• Facilitate settlements of expenses with vendors including wire payments
