About The Position

This is an entry-level position focused on increasing access to educational and enrichment services for PreK-8th grade students. The role involves working with individual and groups of students in a safe and supportive environment to foster their social, emotional, physical, and academic development.

Requirements

  • Completion of high school or equivalent.
  • District Paraprofessional Proficiency Exam certification mandated by the State of California for Instructional Assistants.
  • Certification may be granted in one of the following three ways: 1) Possession of an associate degree (AA); or 2) Completion of 48 college semester units (official transcripts required); or 3) Completion of a District-approved proficiency test.
  • Possession of First Aid/CPR/AED Certificate issued by an authorized agency.
  • MUST UPLOAD REQUIRED FIRST AID/CPR/AED CERTIFICATIONS AND NCLB QUALIFICATION FOR APPLICATION TO BE CONSIDERED COMPLETE.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with youth preferred.
  • Twelve (12) semester units in early childhood education, including units in child development, child-family, and community, and curriculum (for YALE Preschool ONLY).
  • Child Development Associate Teacher Permit, Child Development teacher Permit or Child Development Master Teacher Permit (for YALE Preschool ONLY).
  • Influenza immunization (or current proof of vaccination between 8/1 - 11/30) (for YALE Preschool ONLY).
  • TdaP immunization (or proof of vaccination within the last 10 years) (for YALE Preschool ONLY).
  • MMR clearance (or proof of vaccination / immunity) (for YALE Preschool ONLY).

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and manage student groups using careful and effective supervision in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Provide active and engaging learning and enrichment activities that align with the District Program Plan.
  • Align daily activities while creating a safe and supportive environment for students.
  • Communicate positively and appropriately with parents and staff regarding students in relation to the Expanded Learning Program.
  • Utilize established methods to monitor students at all times (e.g., arrival, departure, transitions, facility use, and on field trips).
  • Implement District Action Plan for quality improvement that reflects continuous growth as directed by the supervisor.
  • Prepare and distribute nutritious snacks in a sanitary manner.
  • Provide basic first aid/CPR/AED as needed.
  • Maintain an organized classroom/learning environment.
  • Perform other reasonably related duties as assigned.
