About The Position

The Senior Program Manager is responsible for the overall planning, implementation, and supervision of afterschool programs and summer camp at their respective site. This role ensures high-quality programming that supports academic achievement, social-emotional development, and skill-building for youth. In addition to site-level leadership, the Senior Program Manager also supports the Director of Programs with department-wide initiatives and big-picture priorities.

  • Knowledge of best practices in afterschool programming, including academic enrichment, social-emotional learning, and behavior management.
  • Experience leading and coordinating summer camps, including supervising staff and managing logistics.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff in a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including youth, families, and school staff.
  • Organized and detail-oriented, with experience in program evaluation and data-driven decision-making.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; experience with program management software is a plus.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a passion for supporting youth from all backgrounds.
  • Provide TB clearance and background clearance from FBI and DOJ
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Youth Development, Social Work, or a related field (equivalent experience will be considered).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience assisting in coordinating afterschool, youth development, or educational programs, with experience managing summer camps or similar programs.
  • Must be a current Oakland Leaf Afterschool Program Manager

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning and execution of afterschool activities, ensuring they meet the organization’s quality standards and goals for youth development.
  • Ensure implementation of age-appropriate curricula and activities that focus on academic support, enrichment, and social-emotional learning.
  • Regularly assess program quality and effectiveness through data collection, feedback, and evaluations, making adjustments as needed.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for summer camp, leading the planning and execution of summer program.
  • Supervise Summer Leads, providing guidance, support, and regular check-ins to ensure effective and smooth program delivery.
  • Coordinate logistics for summer camps, including scheduling, staffing, resource allocation, and communication with school leadership and families.
  • Develop and maintain program timelines and ensure that all necessary preparations for summer camps are completed on time.
  • Recruit, train, and supervise program staff, and support staff, fostering a collaborative and positive team culture.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, provide ongoing coaching and support, and facilitate professional development opportunities for program staff.
  • Perform evaluations of staff performance, providing constructive feedback to enhance skills and program delivery.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with school administrators, teachers, parents, and community partners to support program goals and enrollment.
  • Communicate regularly with families, addressing concerns and keeping them informed of program updates and student progress.
  • Represent the organization at school events, advocating for the value of afterschool programs and encouraging family engagement.
  • Manage the program budget in collaboration with the Director of Programs, ensuring resources are allocated effectively and within budget limits.
  • Maintain accurate records of program attendance, outcomes, and incidents, and prepare regular reports for the Director of Programs and funders.
  • Ensure that the afterschool program and summer camp meet all compliance requirements.
  • Assist with grant reporting and evaluation by providing program data, success stories, and other required documentation.
  • Preparing and submitting organizational attendance data to external stakeholders.
  • Leading the Program Culture Leader (PCL) monthly cohort.
  • Supporting the planning and facilitation of staff orientation and trainings, including sessions on emergency preparedness.
