About The Position

The Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) provides clinical support to doctors, educates patients, and performs expanded dental duties to enhance the patient experience while complying with state regulations. The role is based at Corner Dental in Bowling Green, Ohio. The practice describes its mission as delivering exceptional, patient-first care and transforming the dental experience. Its practices are independently owned and operated by licensed dentists and receive non-clinical business support services from North American Dental Group.

The schedule is Monday through Wednesday, 7:45 a.m.–5 p.m.; Thursday, 7:45 a.m.–7 p.m.; and Friday, 7:45 a.m.–3 p.m.

Requirements

• EFDA certification or on-the-job training, as required by state regulations.
• Radiography licensure that meets state requirements.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite, dental charting software, and digital x-rays, with the ability to learn new systems as needed.
• CPR certification.
• One to five years of experience is preferred; new graduates will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide chairside support for doctors, including charting, placing fillings, preparing and cleaning operatories, and educating patients.
• Perform state-permitted expanded functions, including placing amalgam or composite fillings, adapting temporary crowns, removing sutures, and applying topical fluoride.
• Maintain accurate patient health histories and treatment-plan documentation in dental software.
• Assist with clinical procedures to support a seamless and efficient patient-care process.
• Stay current with state regulations and compliance requirements to deliver safe and effective care.
