About The Position

The Expanded Function Dental Assistant supports dentists at ChesPenn health centers by assisting with clinical care and patient education. The role is based in a busy, multi-site, multicultural ambulatory care setting, with routine exposure to infectious disease and blood-borne pathogens. Applicants who accept an employment offer must complete child abuse and criminal background checks before being hired.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Current Pennsylvania state license.
Current radiology certification.
Strong clinical skills, including chairside assistance and placement of restorations and sealants.
Strong patient service skills.
Good written and verbal communication in English.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to put adult and pediatric patients at ease.
Strong teamwork skills.
Ability to file alphabetically and numerically.
Ability to meet approved minimum physical and medical standards.

Nice To Haves

One to two years of experience as an expanded function dental assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet patients and accompany them to and from the waiting room.
Ask patients about the reason for their visit.
Take X-rays and dental impressions.
Assist the dentist chairside during examinations.
Place restorations, sealants, and similar treatments.
Maintain order and cleanliness in operatories.
Maintain equipment and order supplies as needed.
Communicate appropriate information to clients professionally and accurately.
Understand organizational policies and procedures and explain them to patients when necessary.
Document care in patient records and obtain, review, and update health histories.
Complete other duties as requested by the supervisor.
