Exp Machinist Tech - Fluid Systems Division

Parker Hannifin•Irvine, CA

About The Position

Parker Hannifin’s Parker Aerospace is hiring an experienced machinist technician for its Fluid Systems Division. The role performs development, prototype, and experimental machining on various types of machine-shop equipment. The technician handles complex assignments, including designing and preparing jigs, fixtures, and temporary tooling, and contributes to lean initiatives that improve productivity and reduce costs. The position routinely works independently with minimal guidance while collaborating in a team environment. The machinist operates and sets up manual and CNC machines, develops processes when formal documentation is unavailable, and works with engineering to resolve drawing, design, product, and process issues. The role also performs inspections using precision measuring equipment, maintains machine equipment and calibration, carries out statistical process control, and provides training and mentoring to less experienced team members. Applicants need at least seven years of directly related machining experience in a high-technology manufacturing environment. The position pays $36.80 to $54.95 per hour and participates in an annual incentive program. Employment is subject to drug testing and may be subject to U.S. export-compliance or government-contracting citizenship eligibility requirements.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of gages, precision measuring instruments, and necessary inspection equipment.
  • Ability to lead and/or implement lean initiatives.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills and ability to work in a team environment on research and solution development.

  • Develop and define processes without formal documentation to produce final products with little or no direction.
  • Advise and assist with tooling design and improvements to manufacturing methods and techniques.
  • Inspect finished products against dimensional specifications using precision measuring instruments and, when required, a coordinate measuring machine; ensure equipment is calibrated on schedule.
  • Maintain equipment to meet division requirements for cleanliness, accuracy, and reliability.
  • Perform statistical process control as required by division requirements.
  • Apply advanced shop mathematics, including trigonometry, and knowledge of metal characteristics and processing requirements.
  • Contribute to or lead lean initiatives by identifying and suggesting areas for improvement.
