About The Position

The Shreiber School of Veterinary Medicine (SSVM) of Rowan University invites applications for an Exotic Animal Veterinarian to join our new veterinary program and Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital at a defining stage of development. This is a unique opportunity for a clinician with strong expertise in zoological companion animal medicine and surgery, especially of small mammals and birds, to help design and grow a Zoo & Exotics Service while contributing meaningfully to curriculum development and student education. This position is ideal for a veterinarian who enjoys clinical practice, values teaching, and is energized by the opportunity to shape both a new clinical service and a new academic program. SSVM is in an active startup phase, and faculty joining now will play a foundational role in developing pre-clinical exotic animal curriculum and applied learning experiences, establishing clinical workflows, SOPs, and identity for the Exotic Animal Service, and preparing for the launch of formal clinical teaching, anticipated in approximately two years, as students transition into the teaching hospital. During the initial period, this role will focus on clinical service development, curriculum design, and learner preparation. As the DVM program matures, responsibilities will naturally expand to include structured clinical teaching and supervision.
