About The Position

As an Existing Buildings Associate, you’ll have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping advance the goals of USGBC. In this role, you’ll take ownership of optimizing the utilization of all technical products servicing existing buildings, driving key initiatives such as project timelines and deliverables, product promotion, research and improving the user experience of our existing buildings products in alignment with our mission and strategic goals. You’ll report to the Senior Director, Existing Buildings and be part of a collaborative team environment where your contributions will help shape impactful outcomes. You’ll work closely with teams like Product Management, Project Management, Certification and Marketing and Communications.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in the built environment, program coordination, project management, or standards/compliance environment
  • Familiarity with USGBC products (LEED, TRUE) and certification processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office required
  • Strong writing and communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, manage competing priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
  • Strong organizational and project management skills
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong interpersonal relationships with a diverse array of individuals and constituents
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills. Ability to think strategically and translate organizational goals into technical strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with establishing the strategy for optimizing utilization of all technical products servicing existing assets – both as independent products and in coordination across products.
  • Support implementation of customer communications that explain and promote technical products serving existing assets, ensuring messaging is accurate, consistent, and aligned with product intent and technical requirements.
  • Research and benchmark comparable programs, offerings, and educational content from peer organizations, ensuring technical development and product strategy decisions are informed by external market signals and emerging approaches.
  • Support the maintenance of existing LEED O+M technical products with periodic updates to credit language, guidance, and supporting materials, ensuring ongoing technical rigor, clarity, and consistency with program objectives.
  • Provide general support for development of new versions of LEED O+M technical products.
  • Assist in articulating the technical requirements of all technical products serving existing assets to internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development of educational content related to the technical application of requirements within technical products serving existing assets.
  • Collaborate with internal staff, volunteers, and subject-matter experts to develop/refine technical content and supporting resources, ensuring requirements are implementable and aligned with best practices.
  • Assist in development of internal SOPs to guide associates on the technical and tactical application of credit requirements, exceptions, and work around solutioning.
  • Support communication of updates, adjustments, and changes required with Arc to IT.
  • Provide general support including preparing committee memos, meeting agendas, and volunteer committee communications.
  • Regularly review data collected on projects in Arc and provide insights on building performance and credit application for technical products serving existing assets.
  • Track work progress and communicate cross-functional needs (including Arc-related updates/adjustments) using tools such as Microsoft Office, Salesforce, and Smartsheet, ensuring clear handoffs, and on-time execution.
