About The Position

The Heinz History Center is seeking a full, time Exhibit Technician to join our Exhibit team. The Exhibit Technician’s primary responsibility is to assist with the development, production, installation maintenance and de-installation of exhibits. The successful candidate will assist with the fabrication of exhibits including painting, construction, making mounts, installing objects and graphics, and creating hands-on interactives. Other responsibilities include drywall spakling and finishing, painting, sanding, cleaning and maintenance of exhibit galleries, assistance with A/V equipment and maintaining a clean / safe wood shop and fabrication area. This is a full-time, hourly, non-exempt position reporting to the Director of Exhibit Production.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • 1 -3 year’s experience in exhibit or theater production or construction is preferred.
  • Must be proficient is using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools.
  • Ability to read technical documents, drawings and blue prints.
  • Understanding of advanced construction and structure.
  • Must have a strong understanding of carpenty techniques and methods of installation and construction.
  • This job requires the ability to be a team player, as well as be able to function independently.
  • Self-motivation is important.
  • This position is physically demanding requiring extensive lifting, bending, walkings, climbing and standing.
  • A strong attention to detail and the ability to follow precise instructions is imperative.
