This position is ECB status – requires a minimum number of worked hours per month as needed by the department; limited benefit offerings. The Exercise Specialist will provide stress tests of all varieties accepted in current clinical practice under physician and RN supervision, including Holter Monitor hookup. The role involves utilizing knowledge of exercise science to assess and assist patients undergoing diagnostic testing, procedures, or using various exercise modalities specific to department services. The specialist will report medical symptoms to a registered nurse or designated licensed healthcare provider, perform appropriate patient education using best practices and current exercise science guidelines, and develop materials to enhance patient education. They will also teach individual and/or group classes when required, document data on equipment, and assist with equipment maintenance. Additionally, the role supports unit/hospital goals by attending inservices, meeting unit education standards, and completing variance reports. Decision-making involves independent judgment in planning the sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field. The role coordinates activities of others but does not supervise. This position works directly with patients and/or customers, and with internal and external customers via telephone or face-to-face interaction, as well as with other healthcare professionals and staff.
