Implements and supervises physical conditioning and aerobic exercise programs. Teaches patients and families regarding healthy lifestyles. This role is a primary staff member for all day-to-day aspects of preventative health programs, both PDMP and Cardiac Rehab. The Exercise Physiologist completes the initial exercise assessment of patients entering the Cardiac Rehab or PDMP Program, participates in a team approach to develop the plan of care with associated health care professionals, and orients participants to the exercise program, including demonstration of correct body mechanics and safe use of equipment to execute the exercise prescription. The role also involves working with individuals to develop an individualized exercise program and health plan to follow outside of the program, and providing educational programs for participants. Calculations of exercise prescription based on GXT as necessary and updates per patient response are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the role includes completing annual education requirements and community benefit activities such as attending Mended Hearts and/or Better Breathers, and assisting with Rose Walk and Pulmonary Fair.
