This role involves following GXT lab guidelines and procedures for patient assessment, preparation, ECG recordings, test performance, test endpoints, and recovery monitoring. The Exercise Physiologist will notify the supervising physician of any abnormal pre-test conditions, abnormalities, or concerns. No stress testing will be conducted without the supervising physician present and available in the department. The position also includes performing resting 12-lead electrocardiograms with proper electrode placement, scanning Holter monitors and preparing reports for physician interpretation (specific staff may be assigned this based on volume to ensure competency), and monitoring/evaluating various tracings (EKG's, Holter monitors, Stress Exercise/Dobutamine, Cardiolite, Adenosine, Dobutamine Cardiolites, Lexiscan, and Persantine studies) to identify artifacts, dysrhythmias, or ST segment changes. There may be a requirement to provide coverage and relief in Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation, which includes understanding exercise prescription for cardiac clients, interpreting telemetry monitors, and providing patient education on exercise and healthy lifestyles.
