About The Position

As an Exercise Physiologist with Grand River Hospital District, you will play a key role in supporting patients through their cardiac rehabilitation journey while collaborating closely with the Cardiopulmonary Services team. You’ll provide compassionate, individualized care by developing exercise programs, monitoring patient progress, and educating patients on healthy lifestyle changes. This position combines hands on patient care, clinical assessment, education, and teamwork to help patients safely recover and improve their overall cardiovascular health. You’ll also contribute to maintaining a safe, organized, and high-quality rehabilitation environment that aligns with AACVPR standards and GRHD policies.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Exercise Physiology required.
  • Current American Heart Association BLS certification required and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • American Heart Association ACLS certification required within 90 days of hire and must maintain current status.
  • Knowledge of cardiac rehabilitation practices, patient monitoring, and clinical safety standards.
  • Ability to build positive relationships, communicate professionally, think critically, stay organized, and respond effectively in emergent situations while maintaining a strong patient centered approach.

Nice To Haves

  • Four years of critical care or cardiac rehabilitation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop individualized exercise programs and care plans for cardiac rehabilitation patients.
  • Perform patient assessments, review medical history, medications, and monitor patient vitals during rehab sessions.
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient condition, including abnormal cardiac rhythms, blood pressure responses, or chest pain.
  • Educate patients on exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle modifications in collaboration with the Health Education department.
  • Document patient progress, clinical observations, and communicate updates to physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Maintain rehabilitation equipment, supplies, and treatment areas to ensure cleanliness, safety, and readiness for inspections and surveys.
  • Performs a variety of tasks and other duties as assigned.
