About The Position

The Exercise Physiologist in the Inpatient Cardiac Rehab setting works as an integral part to manage functional improvements in the patient’s recovery. Providing professional exercise guidance and cardio/pulmonary risk factor modification, with individualized patient centered care that optimizes health and wellbeing, enhances quality of life and minimizes risk of recurrent cardio/pulmonary events that lead to readmission, poor outcomes, and increased health care costs. Phase I Cardiac Rehab provides Pre Op education, Progressive Ambulation, Lifestyle Modification, Goal Setting, Smoking Cessation, Diet Education, Phase II Referral, and Discharge Education to a very diverse patient population - Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery, Valve Replace/Repair, Percutaneous Intervention, Myocardial Infarction, Heart Failure, Left Ventricular Assist Device, Video Assisted and Open Thoracotomy, Peripheral Artery and Vascular Disease, Structural Heart, Pectus Excavatum, Heart Transplant

Requirements

  • Exercise Physiology background.
  • Experience in Inpatient Cardiac Rehab.
  • Ability to manage functional improvements.
  • Skilled in providing professional exercise guidance.
  • Knowledge of cardio/pulmonary risk factor modification.
  • Capability for individualized patient-centered care.
  • Understanding of health and wellbeing optimization.
  • Ability to enhance quality of life.
  • Skill in minimizing risk of recurrent cardio/pulmonary events.
  • Experience with Pre Op education.
  • Proficiency in Progressive Ambulation.
  • Experience with Lifestyle Modification.
  • Skilled in Goal Setting.
  • Experience with Smoking Cessation.
  • Knowledge of Diet Education.
  • Ability to facilitate Phase II Referral.
  • Experience with Discharge Education.
