About The Position

Ascension St. Vincent Evansville is seeking an Exercise Physiologist to implement and supervise physical exercise programs for patients. This role involves providing patient testing and assessment before and after rehabilitation, planning and teaching exercise therapy, and monitoring patient responses to revise plans accordingly. The Exercise Physiologist will also recognize contraindications and abnormal patient responses to exercise, respond appropriately to emergencies, and provide exercise information to patients, peers, and the community. Additionally, this position is responsible for ensuring department equipment is maintained, preparing records and reports, scheduling appointments, and providing oversight to department activities in the absence of the manager.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Bachelors degree required.

Nice To Haves

  • Athletic Trainer credentialed from the Indiana Athletic Trainers Board preferred.
  • Certification specializing in Sports Medicine preferred.
  • Exercise Physiologist credentialed from the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) preferred.
  • Masters degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and supervise physical exercise programs for patients.
  • Provide patient testing and assessment before and after rehabilitation.
  • Plan and teach exercise therapy for patients utilizing test data, patient status and current medication regimen. Monitor patient's response and revise plan accordingly.
  • Recognize contraindications and abnormal patient responses to exercise. Respond appropriately to all situations including exercise cessation and referral to medical professionals.
  • Provide exercise information for patients, peers and the community which may include public speaking and education classes.
  • Ensure department equipment is properly maintained, calibrated and functioning correctly.
  • Prepare develops and maintains various files, records, reports; schedules patient appointments as required.
  • Provide oversight to department activities in the absence of the manager.
