About The Position

The Exercise Physiologist is an individual educated in exercise science who has specific acquired knowledge and clinical skills in exercise testing, exercise prescription training, and lifestyle management of a group of clients. They interact with other members of the multidisciplinary team to provide continuity of care to clients. The person in this position must be competent in caring for adult and geriatric patients in the clinical population served. The exercise physiologist identifies individual fitness needs, establishes exercise guidelines for patients and participants, monitors participant use of wellness equipment for safe and proper technique, and leads wellness exercise classes. The exercise specialist/physiologist performs basic fitness assessments within their scope of practice and counsels’ community participants on appropriate exercise programs. The exercise physiologist demonstrates behaviors reflective of the mission and core values of the UC Health as well as those specific to required competencies for successful job performance.
