About The Position

Corewell Health Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital is a 280-bed acute care campus. This role provides all aspects of phases I – III cardiac rehabilitation, including developing, implementing, and evaluating exercise prescriptions and sessions for various chronic illnesses. The position also involves creating and delivering educational materials to patients, planning special events, participating in research, and contributing to departmental improvement initiatives. A strong knowledge of cardiac risk factors is essential. The role also includes care management for Phase II patients and supporting outpatient cardiac rehab services. Additionally, the position supervises cardiovascular stress tests (GXTs, Stress Echocardiograms, Nuclear MPIs), performs Holter and Event Monitor placements, and takes 12-lead EKGs. Responsibilities include uploading monitor reports in Epic, providing patient education, exercise prescription, and processing referrals.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology or related field.
• Current BLS Certification- required upon hire
• A minimum 2 years’ experience or successful completion of a 600-hour clinical internship in the cardiac rehab setting may be required dependent on job location within the system.

• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support- preferred (may be required at specific sites)
• ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist or AACVPR Certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional within 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provides all aspects of phases I – III cardiac rehabilitation.
• Develops, implements and evaluates exercise prescriptions and exercise sessions for all phases of cardio/pulmonary rehab as well as other chronic illnesses.
• Creates educational materials and provides education both cardio/pulmonary patients and other patients referred to the cardiac rehab program.
• Plans and participates in special patient events, writing/research endeavors, professional conferences, the student internship program, specialized programmatic service lines, and/or departmental improvement initiatives.
• Provides all aspects of care management to the Phase II patients in an effective, timely, inspirational manner.
• Supervises cardiovascular stress tests for individuals with and without chronic disease in order to obtain reliable and valid data.
• Testing includes GXTs, Stress Echocardiograms, and Nuclear MPIs both exercise and pharmacological.
• Provides the placement/service of Holter Monitors, Event Monitors, and 12 lead EKGs for outpatients.
• Responsible for uploading monitor reports in Epic.
• Supports phase two and phase three outpatient cardiac rehab.
• Provides patient education and exercise prescription, and processes referrals.
