The Exercise Physiologist performs a variety of non-invasive cardiovascular diagnostic exams and monitors inpatient and outpatient cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. This role involves providing care, including the development, implementation, and evaluation of exercise programs for cardiac and pulmonary patients in phase 2 and phase 3 of cardiac rehabilitation. The Exercise Physiologist works collaboratively with all members of the patient's care team to ensure services are consistent with post-operative and/or post-hospitalization care, and evaluates and revises the plan of care as needed in collaboration with the RN and physician. The position also involves developing and advancing the patient's exercise program based on their physiological and electrocardiographic response to exercise, providing health education and teaching for patients and families, and completing required feedback and communication to the patient and healthcare team, including EMR documentation and reports. Additionally, the role assists with scheduling and billing of cardiac rehab services and precepts nursing, exercise physiology, and nutrition students as assigned.
