About The Position

The Illinois Department of Transportation is seeking to hire an Executive Secretary II. This role, under the direction of the Bureau Chief of Airport Engineering, involves performing administrative secretarial work for a manager of an agency's medium program, or secretarial work for the manager of an agency's major program. The position requires preparing and keyboarding documents that impact program policies, procedures, and collective bargaining issues. Additionally, the Executive Secretary II may supervise staff engaged in lower-level office support functions.

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of two years of secretarial or business college and two years of secretarial experience or completion of high school and four years of secretarial experience.
  • Requires a minimum typing speed of 55 words per minute.
  • Qualifying state employees in the Upward Mobility Program shall have the stated requirements of this classification waived by successful completion of specific proficiency tests and training programs.

Responsibilities

  • As secretary to the Bureau Chief of Airport Engineering, performs a variety of clerical and technical duties.
  • Performs support functions for the Bureau of Airport Engineering staff as assigned by the Bureau Chief.
  • Maintains and organizes all Division of Airport Engineering documentation.
  • Serves as receptionist for the Bureau of Airport Engineering.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
