About The Position

The executive Project Manager will lead the execution of the LANL Sigma Cooling Tower Replacement project at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) in Los Alamos, NM. This role is responsible for overseeing all phases of a Design-Build construction project, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, subcontractor management, and on-site coordination. The Project Manager will serve as the primary point of contact between QGS, subcontractors, and the client, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in full compliance with DOE/NNSA requirements. This is an on-site position during construction with per diem provided unless the candidate is local to the LANL area. The anticipated project duration is 30 months.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a relevant technical discipline
  • Eight (8) to ten (10) years of related experience in project management, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience with Design-Build or Build projects and management of multiple sub-tier contractors
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working on DOE/NNSA or national laboratory projects
  • Experience with cooling tower replacement, mechanical systems, or similar infrastructure projects
  • Master’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or related field
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

Responsibilities

  • Lead the overall planning, coordination, and execution of the LANL Sigma Cooling Tower Replacement project through all phases of Design-Build delivery, including mobilization, abatement, demolition, concrete pours, and waste management critical activities
  • Manage and oversee multiple sub-tier contractors, ensuring alignment with project scope, schedule, budget, quality standards, and safety requirements
  • Serve as the primary liaison between QGS, the client (LANL/DOE/NNSA), and subcontractors, managing communications, deliverables, and client expectations throughout the project lifecycle
  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and resource plans; track progress against milestones and proactively identify and mitigate risks
  • Be on-site a minimum of 20% of the time during regular ongoing field activities, and be present on-site during the start of all major activities including mobilization, abatement, demolition, concrete pours, and waste management critical activities
  • Ensure full compliance with DOE, NNSA, and LANL site-specific safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements throughout all project phases
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support project delivery and organizational objectives
