Executive Producer
About The Position
WOAI/KABB is hiring an Executive Producer to oversee morning news content and ensure fairness, balance, and accuracy. The role leads production of newscasts, daily reporting, online content, and special programming, working closely with producers and reporters on story selection and coverage. As a newsroom leader, the Executive Producer is expected to lead by example. The Executive Producer oversees daily newscasts to ensure they are compelling, competitive, and serve local communities with relevant information that alerts, protects, informs, and empowers audiences. The position supervises producers and reporters, reviews scripts, provides feedback to strengthen storytelling, manages the newsroom during breaking news, and collaborates with the News Director and other station managers on special segments. The role also plans continuity into upcoming newscasts and may produce a daily newscast as a contingency.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience producing in a television news environment or equivalent.
- Proven track record of orchestrating aggressive coverage and creating compelling, engaging stories across multiple platforms.
- Ability to perform well under pressure, manage breaking news, and meet strict deadlines.
- Ability to identify problems and provide solutions.
- Ability to understand and manage multiplatform content and metrics.
- Strong commitment to journalistic standards and ethics.
- Extraordinary people skills, with an emphasis on coaching and motivating.
- Strong understanding of how to drive digital traffic.
- Strong writing skills and a proven track record of getting results on initiatives.
Nice To Haves
- A college degree in Journalism or a related field is preferred.
