About The Position

This position is in the office and not remote. The Office of the County Executive has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and organized Executive Office Receptionist to join our team. In this in-person role, you will serve as the first point of contact for all visitors to the Executive’s Office, providing excellent service to constituents and assisting with administrative tasks that support the 16-person office. This role contributes to the success of the office and Pierce County by coordinating general office duties, helping Executive staff prepare for meetings and maintain records, and providing positive, responsive services to constituents. The Receptionist reports to the Executive Administrative Services Manager. Pierce County Executive Ryan N. Mello is the elected head of the executive branch of the Pierce County government. The Executive oversees and administers county government to ensure that it complies with the County Charter, state constitution, and other applicable federal, state and local laws. Executive Mello's Forward Together agenda focuses on building communities that are safe, welcoming and connected. Executive Mello’s priorities include: Expanding affordable housing and helping individuals transition out of homelessness. Reducing crime and ensuring public safety. Increasing access to affordable childcare for working families. Opening new behavioral health facilities and services to support mental wellness. Requirements

  • One year of general clerical experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word and Teams
  • Clear written communication skills that demonstrate proficiency in spelling, punctuation and grammar
  • Ability to meet travel requirements of the position. Occasional travel within Pierce County may be required for training or to support meetings or event logistics
  • As a condition of employment, the applicant will need to authorize and complete a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receptionist and general office duties such as reviewing mail and responding to routine inquiries by phone, email or in person.
  • Provide administrative support to Executive Office staff. This includes tasks such as scheduling meetings, preparing meeting materials, maintaining contact lists, and helping with meeting and event logistics.
  • Demonstrate the office’s Welcoming Workplace values of collaboration, integrity, excellence and transparency.
  • Conform to the County Finance Policy and Procedures Manual, Human Resources policies and the Administrative Guidelines for Career Service, and Information Technology Policies and Procedures.
