About The Position

The Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission (VWC) is seeking an experienced, forward-thinking Executive Director to provide executive leadership and oversee the agency’s administrative operations. Reporting to the three-member Commission, the role guides a diverse leadership team, oversees critical organizational functions, strengthens operational effectiveness, and fosters a culture of trust, accountability, and collaboration. The Executive Director provides strategic direction and hands-on executive management across the Commission’s administrative operations. The position oversees finance, human resources, information technology, claims-related services, compliance, and other agency programs; directs and develops department heads and the leadership team; and manages financial planning, budgeting, resource allocation, and fiscal stewardship. The role requires the ability to be physically present at headquarters, including on short notice when operational needs arise. Telework arrangements are subject to agency needs, approval, and supervisory discretion; training and orientation are conducted at headquarters or as required.
