Requirements

  • Extensive related senior management experience in a large organization with a depth of experience in natural resource management or public administration.
  • Demonstrated success in formulating new policies, regulations and programs, legislative review, and managing complex issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership to the Water Availability and Partnerships branch including how Alberta’s water is managed, shared, conserved and stewarded.
  • Leads the development of policies for surface water and groundwater availability, allocation and efficient use as well as wetlands.
  • Ensures effective environmental education and outreach occurs through the Bow Habitat Station, the department Contact Centre as well as school and community programs.
  • Ensures the coordination of provincial partnerships, water well driller licensing and the Working Well program.
  • Works with a variety of internal teams, cross-governmental partners, other governments, ministries, and key industry stakeholders and associations to ensure policies and programs to support water availability and partnerships.
