About The Position

The Executive Director of Procurement is the senior-most procurement leader in the organization and is accountable for the full strategy, performance, and integrity of Duly's procurement function. This executive sets the vision for how procurement creates competitive advantage — through disciplined spend management, strategic supplier relationships, clinical partnership, and a culture of operational excellence. The ideal candidate leads with both strategic vision and operational credibility. They hold themselves and their teams to high standards without sacrificing the psychological safety needed for innovation and candor. They understand that healthcare procurement is not just a cost center — it is a patient safety function. They earn trust across clinical, financial, and operational stakeholders by demonstrating deep expertise, sound judgment, and a consistent commitment to doing what is right for the organization and the patients it serves.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of procurement and supply chain leadership experience, with 5+ years as Director+
  • Demonstrated experience leading procurement in a complex, multi-site healthcare, hospital system, or similarly regulated enterprise environment
  • Proven track record of delivering significant, measurable financial results through strategic sourcing, negotiation, and supplier management
  • Deep expertise in clinical/non-clinical contract strategy, negotiation, and lifecycle management
  • Experience partnering with C-suite and Board-level stakeholders
  • Strong command of procurement technology platforms and data analytics tools
  • Demonstrated success building and developing high-performing teams across multiple functional areas
  • Fluency with healthcare compliance and regulatory frameworks: HIPAA, GLBA, PCI, SOC 2, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or a related field

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or advanced degree in a relevant discipline
  • CPSM, CPM, FAHRMM, or equivalent advanced procurement/supply chain certification
  • Experience with GPO strategy and contract portfolio management in a health system context
  • Familiarity with value analysis methodologies and physician preference item (PPI) management
  • Experience leading through merger, acquisition, or significant enterprise integration

Responsibilities

  • Set and own the multi-year Procurement and Supply Chain Strategic Roadmap, aligning it to Duly's organizational strategy, financial targets, and clinical priorities
  • Serve as the primary procurement voice on the senior leadership team; advise the CFO, COO, CMO, and Board-level committees on supply chain risk, spend strategy, and value opportunities
  • Partner with service line leaders, clinical executives, and department heads to ensure procurement strategy reflects operational realities and clinical standards
  • Lead enterprise-wide change management efforts building organizational buy-in across functions
  • Deliver against annual savings, cost avoidance, and total cost of ownership targets; accountable for results across all spend categories
  • Oversee the organization's GPO strategy and direct contracting portfolio
  • Establish and enforce financial controls, purchase authority frameworks, and compliance standards
  • Lead executive-level business reviews with strategic suppliers, ensuring contract value is fully realized
  • Ensure all procurement operations — sourcing, contracting, PO processing, supplier management, and facilities — are governed by robust policies, controls, and audit-ready documentation
  • Define and own the enterprise procurement policy framework
  • Oversee contract lifecycle management from negotiation through renewal
  • Ensure full compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
  • Serve as executive sponsor and champion adoption of tools that drive efficiency and visibility
  • Collaborate with clinical leaders to ensure supply chain decisions support patient safety, care quality, and clinical efficacy
  • Lead value analysis processes that integrate clinical evidence, physician preference, and financial impact
  • Drive standardization initiatives that reduce unwarranted variation and improve outcomes & economics
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing procurement organization; set clear expectations, foster accountability, and create pathways for professional growth
  • Attract and retain top procurement talent; build organizational depth and succession readiness across all critical functions
  • Champion a culture of continuous improvement, intellectual curiosity, and collaborative problem-solving within the procurement function
  • Establish and maintain a performance management framework that links individual goals to department and organizational outcomes
