About The Position

The Executive Director of Programming is a senior instructional leader responsible for driving academic excellence across Rocky Mountain Prep’s schools. This leader sets the vision and strategy for curricula across the network and ensures that curriculum, assessment, and instructional systems support strong early literacy, mathematics, and foundational learning outcomes for all students. The Executive Director partners closely with the Chief Achievement Officer, Executive Directors of Schools, and school leaders to ensure coherence and quality in academic programming. The role is responsible for designing and maintaining robust academic systems and supporting principals and instructional leaders in implementing them effectively.

Requirements

  • 5–8+ years of progressive professional experience in education leadership.
  • At least 3 years managing teams and/or leaders.
  • Proven record of improving academic outcomes in schools.
  • Experience leading instructional systems across multiple schools or within a school network.
  • Strong background in literacy and math instruction.
  • Deep expertise in curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
  • Strong instructional leadership and experience coaching school leaders.
  • Ability to design and implement systems that drive consistent instructional quality.
  • Exceptional data analysis and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Deep belief in the potential of every child and commitment to educational equity.
  • Systems thinker who can translate strategy into clear instructional structures and routines.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of Rocky Mountain Prep’s network-wide academic strategy.
  • Define and maintain a clear vision for excellent instruction across grade levels and content areas.
  • Ensure academic priorities support strong early literacy, numeracy, and foundational skill development.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine academic programs to ensure they drive strong student learning outcomes.
  • Oversee the selection, development, and implementation of high-quality curriculum across schools.
  • Utilize AI tools to ensure access and high-stakes testing alignment for on-the-ground teachers.
  • Ensure strong alignment between curriculum, assessments, and instructional practices.
  • Lead the design and implementation of common assessments that measure student progress and inform instruction.
  • Establish clear instructional expectations and systems that support consistent academic rigor across classrooms.
  • Partner with Executive Directors of Schools to strengthen principals’ instructional leadership, particularly in ELAR and math instruction.
  • Support the development of assistant principals and instructional leaders who coach teachers.
  • Ensure school leaders have the tools, training, and support necessary to drive strong instructional outcomes.
  • Develop Arc of the Year for Data and Assessment. Ensure key touch points to reflect on data with leaders to adjust strategy.
  • Develop systems for monitoring academic performance across schools.
  • Analyze network-wide academic data to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure schools use student data effectively to inform instruction and accelerate learning.
  • Support targeted academic interventions when schools require additional support.
  • Partner with middle school leadership to ensure strong academic alignment between elementary, middle, and high school programs.
  • Ensure instructional systems prepare students for the next level of academic expectations.
  • Support cross-school collaboration to strengthen vertical alignment of curriculum and instructional practices.
  • Partner with the Schools Team to align academic strategy with principal coaching and school performance support.
  • Collaborate with Student Services and mental health teams to ensure academic systems support diverse learner needs.
  • Work with Operations and Technology teams to ensure teachers and school leaders have the tools and systems needed to deliver strong instruction.
  • Lead and develop members of the academic team.
  • Serve as a key member of the Achievement leadership team, contributing to network-wide strategy and decision-making.
  • Build scalable systems and practices that strengthen academic excellence across all schools.
