About The Position

Lexicon is a biopharmaceutical company focused on pioneering medicines that transform patients’ lives through a unique approach to gene science. The company is seeking an agile, highly motivated Executive Director, Marketing to lead the development and execution of strategic marketing plans for a best-in-class product launch. This role involves long-range brand planning, forecasting, operational planning, understanding the commercial landscape, identifying customer opportunities, and developing winning strategies and measurable tactical plans. The position will also oversee the creation of all market promotional materials, establish the digital marketing platform, and manage peer-to-peer, personal promotion, and social media for healthcare professionals (HCPs) and patients. A key responsibility is leading the development of all promotional messaging, claims, and materials that leverage approved product label clinical data, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements across all channels to HCPs, patients, caregivers, and pharmacies. This role reports to Lexicon’s Chief Commercial Officer.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • A minimum of 15 years of pharmaceutical leadership experience, including marketing and product management, product promotions, and digital promotions.
  • Demonstrated understanding of cross-functional pharmaceutical areas, including sales, marketing analytics, payer, and sales training.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and information and develop key strategies and solutions.
  • Ability to anticipate and resolve complex problems or issues that adversely affect business sales objectives.
  • Ability to use an integrated approach to addressing customer needs to deploy adequate resources to maximize ROI and future business opportunities.
  • Ability to manage external vendor relationships, including promotional and advertising agency management.
  • Ability and desire to work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to lead effectively in a highly matrixed cross-functional environment that spans sales, medical, clinical development, and market analytics.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree such as MBA, PharmD, or a related field of study is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and developing strategic marketing plans in preparation for product launch, including understanding customer types, market needs, competitive landscape, and business intelligence to create and drive effective brand strategies.
  • Developing and executing the overall Brand Plan, including strategic objective setting, identification of key customer behavior objectives, development of overall communication strategy, and ownership of brand partner relationships.
  • Providing leadership for the brand team, brand positioning, message platform creation, value proposition development, identification of barriers with action plans, and ongoing message tracking indicators.
  • Leading the development of business strategies related to Corporate Accounts, Pricing and Reimbursement, and Contracting for all customer segments to maximize business opportunities and profitability.
  • Leading the development, approval, and dissemination of promotional material creation, including management of external agencies.
  • Ensuring field force training on brand messaging and materials, and collaborating with, overseeing, and interfacing with the field and key customers.
  • Overall functional financial management, including budgeting, tracking, and forecasting.
