About The Position

Mount Evans Hospice, Inc. is seeking an experienced and mission-driven Executive Director to provide overall leadership for our hospice and palliative care organization serving the mountain and foothill communities of Colorado. The Executive Director serves as the organization’s chief executive and works closely with the Board of Directors, staff, physicians, volunteers, donors, healthcare partners, and the broader community. This is a unique opportunity for a collaborative leader who is passionate about hospice and palliative care and who can balance compassionate service with strong organizational, financial, and operational leadership. Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will be responsible for advancing the organization’s mission while ensuring long-term sustainability, quality, regulatory compliance, community relationships, and organizational growth. Responsible for planning, coordinating, managing and directing all activities and programs of the Mount Evans Home Health Care and Hospice.

Requirements

  • Strong business and operational acumen with the ability to connect financial performance with mission and patient care.
  • At least 5 years of senior operational, executive, or general-management experience with responsibility for budgets, staffing, performance outcomes, and strategic initiatives.
  • At least 5 years of progressively responsible leadership experience in hospice, palliative care, home health, healthcare, nonprofit administration, or a closely related field.
  • Experience working with a Board of Directors, Board committees, or a comparable governance structure.
  • Demonstrated experience with budgets, financial forecasting, financial statements, and performance improvement.
  • Experience with philanthropy, donor engagement, grants, nonprofit fundraising, or community partnership development.
  • A collaborative leadership style and the ability to build trust across diverse groups.
  • A genuine commitment to compassionate, culturally responsive care for patients and families.
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, nursing, public health, nonprofit management, finance, or a related field.
  • At least five (5) years’ experience in health care management preferably in hospice and palliative care operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in healthcare administration, business administration, public health, nursing, or a related discipline is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Board to advance the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities.
  • Provide strong fiscal and operational leadership, including budgeting, financial performance, and organizational sustainability.
  • Oversee hospice and palliative care operations, quality, compliance, patient access, and performance improvement.
  • Build and support a strong, accountable, and mission-centered leadership team.
  • Develop relationships with donors, healthcare providers, referral partners, volunteers, and community organizations.
  • Partner with Shared Services and Philanthropy teams to ensure organizational priorities and resources are aligned.
  • Serve as a visible ambassador for Mount Evans Hospice in the community; helping to communicate the organization’s impact, needs, priorities, and future vision.
  • Promote a culture of quality, safety, ethical practice, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote a culture of compassion, collaboration, accountability, and respect.
