About The Position

The Executive Director, Experimental Medicine – Immunology will provide leadership for early clinical development and experimental medicine within the Therapeutic Area (TA). This role focuses on advancing proof-of-concept studies and supporting global development plans. The incumbent will contribute to shaping clinical strategy and ensuring scientific rigor in early-phase programs. This role will drive operational excellence and foster collaboration across functions to deliver high-quality clinical outcomes aligned with TA objectives. The Executive Director, Experimental Medicine influences portfolio progression and scientific reputation but with a narrower enterprise impact compared to VP level. Requirements

MD or MD/PhD in relevant medical specialty/Therapeutic Area required
Cell therapy experience
Scientific Expertise: Solid understanding of disease biology, clinical trial design, and translational medicine.
Leadership: Ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams.
Strategic Execution: Skilled in implementing clinical plans aligned with TA objectives.
Communication: Strong ability to engage internal and external stakeholders.
Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with global drug development and compliance requirements.
Innovation: Experience applying novel approaches in early clinical development.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.
Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required).
Must be 18 years of age or older.

Responsibilities

Contributes to development and execution of early clinical plans for the TA.
Ensures timely delivery of Phase I–IIb studies with scientific integrity and regulatory compliance.
Maintains awareness of emerging science and competitor activities; applies insights to optimize study design and execution.
Reviews and provides input on protocols, reports, and publications.
Provides guidance to a team of clinical scientists and physicians, fostering collaboration and high performance.
Promotes innovation and operational excellence within early development teams.
Partners with Research, Clinical Pharmacology, Regulatory, and Clinical Operations to ensure alignment and smooth execution.
Participates in governance discussions and provides recommendations to support decision-making.
Represents the organization in scientific forums and with key opinion leaders as appropriate.
Supports preliminary evaluations for potential in-licensing opportunities.
