About The Position

The Executive Director of Corporate Operations provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of centralized support functions across a multi-specialty healthcare organization, including primary care and specialty services. This role is responsible for optimizing referral management, patient access, and clinical support services to ensure seamless coordination of care across the continuum. The Executive Director partners with executive, operational, and clinical leadership to enhance access, improve patient and provider experience, and support integrated, high-quality care delivery across all service lines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field (required)
  • 10 years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations
  • 3+ years in a senior leadership role within a multi-specialty medical group, health system, or MSO
  • Demonstrated experience supporting both primary care and specialty operations
  • Strong understanding of multi-specialty workflows, including referral management and care coordination
  • Expertise in patient access strategy and centralized operations
  • Proven ability to drive process improvement across diverse service lines
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and executive presence

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategies to support efficient, integrated operations across primary care and specialty services
  • Drive initiatives that improve care coordination, access to specialty services, and network utilization
  • Partner with executive leadership to align centralized operations with organizational growth and multi-specialty expansion
  • Provide oversight of the following centralized departments: Referral Management, Patient Support Services, Clinical Support Services
  • Ensure timely, accurate coordination of internal and external referrals, including specialty access, authorizations, and tracking to completion
  • Oversee centralized scheduling, call center operations, and patient access across multiple service lines
  • Support clinical workflows including training teams, EHR support, care coordination, and cross-specialty support functions
  • Ensure consistent, standardized workflows that support both primary care and specialty practices
  • Improve processes that reduce leakage and enhance continuity of care within the network
  • Establish and monitor KPIs across service lines
  • Utilize data to identify gaps in access, referral patterns, and operational performance across specialties
  • Implement targeted improvement initiatives based on performance trends
  • Champion a coordinated, patient-centered approach to access and navigation across primary and specialty care
  • Collaborate with providers to ensure referral processes and support services enhance care delivery and reduce administrative burden
  • Improve communication pathways between primary care and specialty teams
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and organizational policies related to patient access, referrals, and clinical support services
  • Support quality and care coordination initiatives, including those tied to value-based care models
  • Maintain audit readiness and promote best practices in patient confidentiality and service excellence
  • Lead, mentor, and develop leaders across centralized support functions
  • Build a high-performing, collaborative culture focused on service excellence and accountability
  • Support workforce planning to meet the needs of a growing multi-specialty organization
  • Partner with IT to optimize systems supporting multi-specialty scheduling, referral management, and clinical workflows
  • Lead implementation of tools that improve coordination between primary care and specialty services (e.g., referral tracking platforms, access optimization tools)
  • Leverage technology, including automation and AI where appropriate, to improve efficiency and patient access
  • Work closely with primary care and specialty leadership to ensure alignment of centralized services with practice needs
  • Collaborate with population health, care management, and quality teams to support integrated care delivery
  • Serve as a liaison between corporate operations and practice locations to ensure consistency and responsiveness
