About The Position

The Marsh House at Kiawah Island Club is seeking a talented and innovative Executive Chef to lead the culinary program of one of the Club's most beloved dining venues. Nestled along Kiawah's scenic marshlands, The Marsh House offers a warm, coastal dining experience that celebrates the flavors, traditions, and hospitality of the Lowcountry. This is an exceptional opportunity to shape a distinctive culinary experience within one of the country's premier private clubs while creating memorable dining experiences for Members and guests in a uniquely beautiful setting. The Executive Chef will be responsible for leading all culinary operations at The Marsh House while developing a refined, seasonally driven dining program rooted in Lowcountry traditions, fresh local ingredients, and coastal influences. This role combines creative leadership with operational excellence, delivering exceptional Member-focused dining experiences while fostering a culture of collaboration, professionalism, and culinary innovation.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an Executive Chef or Executive Sous Chef in a luxury resort, private club, upscale restaurant, or hospitality environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of coastal cuisine, seafood cookery, and seasonal menu development.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated financial and operational acumen.
  • Experience managing high-volume dining operations and special events.
  • Passion for hospitality and delivering exceptional experiences for Members and guests.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage, train, and motivate culinary staff
  • Strong communication, time management, and organizational skills
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work flexible shifts (nights, weekends, holidays)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute innovative menus that celebrate Lowcountry cuisine, fresh seafood, seasonal ingredients, and regional influences.
  • Lead, mentor, and inspire a talented culinary team while fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and continuous development.
  • Ensure consistency in food quality, presentation, and execution across all dining services and special events.
  • Create memorable culinary experiences that enhance Member engagement and satisfaction.
  • Manage food and labor costs while maintaining the highest standards of quality and service.
  • Oversee purchasing, inventory management, and vendor relationships with an emphasis on quality, sustainability, and responsible sourcing.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation standards.
  • Partner with Club leadership on special events, wine dinners, Member programming, and unique dining experiences.
  • Serve as a culinary ambassador for The Marsh House and Kiawah Island Club.
  • Continuously evaluate culinary trends and opportunities while preserving the identity and traditions that make The Marsh House a favorite among Members.
