About The Position

Chartwells K12 is hiring an Executive Chef for a school district in South Windsor, Connecticut. Reporting to the Director, the Executive Chef leads kitchen operations with creativity and precision and promotes a safe, sanitary work environment. The role emphasizes oversight, compliance, training, and accountability. The position offers a salary of $60,000–$65,000.

Requirements

At least two years of culinary or kitchen management experience.
Hands-on chef experience.
Knowledge of food trends, quality, production, sanitation, cost control, and presentation.
Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office and email systems.
Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs and activities.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in culinary arts or equivalent experience.
Catering experience.
Experience in complex foodservice operations, including institutional and batch cooking.
ServSafe certification.

Responsibilities

Develop regular and specialty menus in line with K12 standards and ensure adherence to portioning and presentation guidelines.
Train kitchen staff in food preparation, equipment operation, and safety protocols, promoting a culture of excellence.
Establish and maintain thorough cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment and work areas.
Manage food and supply inventory, optimizing utilization and ensuring vital products are available.
Ensure compliance with health and sanitation regulations by following department procedures and participating in audits.
Participate in departmental meetings, staff development initiatives, and professional programs to stay current with industry trends.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the efficient functioning of dining service operations.
