About The Position

Primordial Soup is a generative AI lab and story studio founded by visionary filmmaker Darren Aronofsky. We invent original stories and the tools to tell them — merging bold narrative, emotional depth, and experimental workflows. From ANCESTRA, created with Google DeepMind, to our upcoming originals, we’re generating new IP, building cinematic tools, and shaping a creative model where artists and technology evolve together. Our team is small and works at the cutting edge of what generative AI can create. We are based in New York City. Working at the intersection of technology, filmmaking, and culture, we partner with leading AI labs, studios, brands, and creators to redefine how stories are imagined and made. We're looking for an EA/Chief of Staff to serve as Darren Aronofsky's strategic and admin partner across both Primordial Soup and Protozoa. This role sits at the center of Darren's professional world—helping him navigate creative, business, and operational priorities while ensuring he has the context, preparation, and support to operate at his highest level. This is an ideal role for someone who combines exceptional organizational instincts with strong business judgment. You'll thrive in fast-moving environments, enjoy bringing order to complexity, and love working at the intersection of storytelling, technology, and entrepreneurship. This role works closely with Darren, the President, and the Head of Operations.

Requirements

• 4–8 years of experience supporting founders, CEOs, executives, or leadership teams in high-growth startups, technology companies, media organizations, or consulting.
• Background in entertainment, media, and content production.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
• Outstanding written and verbal communication.
• Strong business judgment, emotional intelligence, and discretion.
• Comfortable interacting with executives, creatives, investors, engineers, talent, and external partners.
• Highly proactive with a natural instinct for anticipating needs before they arise.
• Thrives in ambiguity and enjoys building structure within fast-moving organizations.

Nice To Haves

• Experience as an Executive Assistant to a founder or CEO, start-up Chief of Staff, Executive Business Partner, or similar role.
• Background spanning technology and startups.
• Familiarity with modern startup tools including, Google Workspace, Slack, and project management platforms.
• Passion for storytelling, filmmaking, AI, and emerging technology.

Responsibilities

• Own Darren's professional calendar, priorities, and meeting cadence across Primordial Soup and Protozoa.
• Work closely with Darren’s personal assistant.
• Ensure Darren is thoroughly prepared for meetings with the appropriate context, research, briefing materials, and follow-up.
• Attend key meetings, capture notes, document decisions, and communicate action items to relevant stakeholders.
• Act as Darren's central hub of information, maintaining visibility across projects, partnerships, productions, and company priorities.
• Help prioritize inbound opportunities, partnerships, introductions, speaking engagements, and strategic requests.
• Coordinate communications between Darren, leadership teams, investors, filmmakers, creative partners, and external stakeholders.
• Anticipate Darren's needs and proactively remove friction from his day.
• Partner closely with the President and Head of Operations on leadership planning and strategic initiatives.
• Help coordinate recurring leadership meetings, company planning sessions, and offsites.
• Prepare internal communications, leadership updates, presentations, and meeting materials.
• Serve as a trusted thought partner who can quickly understand priorities, identify risks, and help move important initiatives forward.
